I think my girlfriends and I have always been red hatters without the red. I have always loved hats and started collecting vintage hats many years ago. We would all don one of my vintage hats and go out for lunch to celebrate one occasion or the other. We also had a "coolie" hat (a garage sale find) we would wear on our birthdays, well decorated with junk jewellery. That was the beginning of the hat decorating, and now I have decided to do it as a red hat business.
Decorating and wearing hats, spending time travelling with my girlfriends, and meeting new hatters from all over....I can't think of anything else I'd rather do.

My name is Darcy Irwin and I am the owner and operator of Swimfit.ca. I have been coaching and teaching competitive swimming for 12 years and am the assistant head coach of the Nanaimo Riptide Swim Team in British Columbia, Canada. I am in charge of running the teams learn to swim program while coaching provincial, national and international level swimmers. I train and then certify new coaches how to teach swimming all over British Columbia. I do consulting work with other swim teams and pool facilities to help them develop or improve their learn to swim programs. I coach the local Masters swim team the Nanaimo Ebbtides, and run adult learn to swim, tri athlete and fitness swimming groups 4 days a week.

Canoe Creek Hydro is a run-of-the-river hydropower project that generates clean, renewable energy. On average, our 5.5 megawatt hydropower plant will produce enough electricity to supply the annual needs of about 2000 homes. All of the electricity we generate is sold under a long term contract to BC Hydro and is used here on Vancouver Island.
